We are thrilled to have been part of the team that had the privilege to “Create a Grand Opening” for Noble Smoke and Chef Jim Noble in the Freemorewest neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. Our work wrapped up several weeks ago. Since then, Chef Jim Noble, and his team have been working hard to keep up with the overwhelming demand. Cheers to a job well done team!

Community Matters Cafe Grand Opening
Community Matters Cafe Grand Opening Celebration
The Doerre team is very excited to have been part of the team that Created a Grand Opening for the Community Matters Cafe. A crowd of over 250 people came out yesterday to officially open the Community Matters Cafe in 3rd ward, a new coffee shop and restaurant that is a part of the Charlotte Rescue Mission. As former drug and alcohol abusers in the Mission’s recovery program fight to get back to self sufficiency, they will get to work here and build life skills in customer service, hospitality, cooking, and coffee roasting while making a little money. The ground breaking celebration included Carolina Eats (Franchisee), Walk-On’s team members, The Durban Group and many local Fayetteville dignitaries. Assa Abloy Celebrates Expansion
We had the privilege of celebrating the recently completed expansion of Assa Abloy’s facility in Monroe, NC with the Assa Abloy team and the Union County Chamber of Commerce. This industrial project included the expansion of two buildings and extensive site renovations. There was a 35,000 square foot addition and a 10,000 square foot addition to existing buildings. The project also included two new parking lots and a driveway. We enjoyed working with Cushman Wakefield to Create a Grand Opening for Assa Abloy.

Today was a huge milestone moment for the Doerre Team as we celebrated the “Topping Out” of Markley Place in Greenville, SC. We are grateful for all of our team members and look forward to finishing this project out strong! We are especially excited because this has been our first opportunity to work with Prescient Co. Their technology and innovative structural system allowed us to erect over 80,000 square feet in less than 8 weeks. We believe the Prescient system really is a game changer! Way to go team!!!

Our team began erecting the Prescient framing system a little over three weeks ago and have already completed framing of the 4th floor! We are excited to be working with the Prescient Company and feel like this system is going to be a game changer.

Town Brewing Grand Opening

We are thrilled to have been part of the team that had the privilege to “Create a Grand Opening” for Town Brewing in the Freemorewest neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. Our work wrapped up several weeks ago. Since then, Brian Quinn (Head Brewer), and his team have been working hard to prepare for their official grand opening celebration on September 28th. We look forward to sharing a pint with them in celebration. Cheers to a job well done team!

Message From The President
For the first time the Doerre logo is proudly flying on a tower crane above one of our projects. Located on Markley Street in Greenville, SC, just behind Fluor Field, the crane is whirling about delivering forms, rebar and concrete as we construct the cast-in-place podium for Markley Place, a 38-unit condominium project. In August, pre-fabricated steel posts, walls, trusses and deck will be delivered and erected. Weather permitting, the entire building frame will be erected in 9-10 weeks. Occupancy is scheduled for Spring of 2019.
We are excited to be involved in Markley Place for several reasons. First, it is a very hip five-story steel and concrete urban infill building. Most importantly, we are continuing our relationship with Terry Birch, building our second residential development in Greenville, SC. Starting last fall we worked in collaboration with Terry, Johnson Design Group, and Prescient the building structure subcontractor to get the project designed, budgeted and permitted. This will be the first Prescient framed structure in Greenville and it will not be the last. What makes the Prescient system unique is that the entire structure, including interior walls and stairs, are fabricated in Mebane, NC and will be shipped to the project for erection, very much like an erector set of old. While it takes many hours of planning and coordination, the construction time and dollar savings are substantial. We are convinced that this system will become more common and we plan to be involved in this new market segment.
It is a huge opportunity for Doerre to be on the front line of a new building technology. We want to thank Terry Birch and his team for the trust they have shown in allowing us to be the General Contractor at Markley Place. Our Doerre Construction Project Team has had some successful project “wins” over the past few months:
- Oakhurst on Monroe Retail – Our team is excited to partner with David Krug Associates and RED Partners to build two new ground-up retail shop shell buildings totaling about 15,500 square feet. We will also be completing the site work for about 6 acres. This project is located on Monroe Road in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Charlotte.
- Assa Abloy – This industrial expansion project is a building and site renovation for Assa Abloy’s facility located in Monroe, NC. A 35,000 square foot addition and 10,000 square foot addition will be added to existing buildings. The project also includes two new parking lots and a driveway to enhance the facility. We are excited to be working with Cushman Wakefield to Create a Grand Opening for Assa Abloy.
- QuikTrip – Continuing our long-term relationship with QuikTrip, we began construction on their store in Greenville, SC this quarter.
- Rooster’s Wood Fired Kitchen and Copain Gatherings – This project includes several new private dining rooms for Jim Noble’s Rooster’s restaurant located in the South Park area of Charlotte. There is also a top of the line pastry kitchen being created for Jim’s Copain Gatherings which will service his catering business complete with a retail counter for baked goods.
- Town Brewing – We are handling the brewery project that’s underway at 800 Grandin Road, a 10,600 square-foot building formerly occupied by an industrial equipment supplier called Lubromation Inc. Work on the building will include roll-up garage doors that lead to an expansive outdoor patio, a tap room, kitchen, and the brew house is expected to wrap-up in July.
- Freedom Drive Showrooms – We handled the complete renovation of the old Goodwill Industries building located on Freedom Drive in Charlotte for Browder Real Estate Group. Since completing the shell renovations, we are now completing showrooms for A. Hoke Furniture and Walker-Zanger Tile.
