Noble Smoke

Renovation, Restaurant/Retail

The Vision

The “Freemore West” corridor of Charlotte is in the process of being revitalized into one of the most desirable areas of the city. Doerre Construction is proud to contribute to this growth, and be part of the team that could “Create a Grand Openingfor Noble Smoke Restaurant. Noble Smoke is Jim Noble’s fifth restaurant, and the idea has been marinating for 25 years. He’s spent decades traveling, researching and digging deeper into his own Southern roots to make sure Noble Smoke pays homage to the history-steeped North Carolina barbecue scene. The Doerre team converted a former bus repair garage building into a property that now houses the restaurant.

The Project

This multifaceted project included two phases that turned the former bus repair garage on Freedom Drive into the exciting restaurant space it is now. The first phase of the project included the shell work for the owner of the building, Browder Real Estate Group. Original masonry, steel, and timber construction played a large role in creating a unique space for the future restaurant areas. The project was a full interior and exterior renovation, including new electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems, outdoor patio space, landscaping, and cosmetic exterior work.  The parking lot was also more than double in size.  The second phase of the project included the interior up-fit of the restaurant space and the addition of the smoke house building as well as the “beer shack” which is a full service bar kiosk located on the patio.

The Grand Opening

Noble Smoke opened in late Summer (2019) to rave reviews from the public and has quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the growing Freemore West corridor in Charlotte.  The Doerre team is truly honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to work on such a great project with such amazing people.
