Bossy Beulah’s Chicken Shack – The Bowl at Ballantyne – Charlotte, NC
The Vision
Bossy Beulah’s Chicken Shack at The Bowl in Ballantyne represents the latest step in Chef Jim Noble’s mission to create a chef-driven, high-quality quick-service restaurant experience. As the fifth location for the brand and the fourth built by Doerre Construction, this project was particularly meaningful as part of our long-standing partnership with Noble Food & Pursuits.
The 2,900-square-foot restaurant, with an additional 1,051-square-foot covered patio, was envisioned to embody the essence of Bossy Beulah’s—a modern and approachable dining space that highlights its signature “Beaut” chicken sandwich while maintaining the brand’s focus on hospitality, quality, and natural ingredients. Situated at The Bowl, part of Ballantyne’s transformative $1 billion Reimagined project, the restaurant aimed to serve the bustling business and residential community in south Charlotte.
The vision was clear: create a functional yet inviting environment that seamlessly blended into The Bowl’s vibrant food and entertainment district while remaining true to the Bossy Beulah’s ethos of simple, chef-driven food done exceptionally well.
The Project
Doerre Construction was proud to bring Bossy Beulah’s vision to life, leveraging our extensive experience with Noble Food & Pursuits, including projects such as Noble Smoke, The Jimmy, and Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen. For this project, we focused on delivering a space that met the brand’s operational requirements while enhancing the overall customer experience.
The construction process emphasized efficiency, durability, and design. The restaurant’s compact footprint required meticulous planning to optimize the layout for both functionality and comfort. The open-concept kitchen and streamlined service area were designed to handle the fast-paced nature of the business while maintaining a clean, polished aesthetic.
Key design features included clean lines, natural finishes, and durable materials that align with Bossy Beulah’s branding. The covered patio added a valuable extension to the dining space, creating an inviting area for guests to enjoy their meals outdoors. Throughout the project, Doerre Construction collaborated closely with Noble Food & Pursuits to ensure the space reflected the brand’s commitment to hospitality and quality.
As always, Doerre’s approach prioritized proactive communication and real-world solutions. By maintaining close coordination with stakeholders, we ensured that the project was completed on time, on budget, and with the high standards that our repeat client expects.
