NoDa Brewing Company
The Vision
The craft beer industry continues to boom in Charlotte, NC, and the Doerre Construction team partnered with Harris Development Group and Todd and Suzie Ford, of NoDa Brewing Company, to renovate this historic building into their new production facility and taproom. The historic 2921 North Tryon building, originally constructed in the late 1930s, was most recently home to the Ray Roofing Company, but it was previously a warehouse for Fleischmann’s and for the Speas Vinegar Company.
The Project
This project entailed the renovation and repurposing of the 26,000-square-foot Speas Vinegar Company plant, which was built in 1936. Original masonry, steel, and timber construction played a large role in creating a unique space for the new brewery, as well as for the canning and taproom areas. The project demanded a full interior and exterior renovation, including new electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems, parking areas, outdoor patio space, landscaping, and cosmetic exterior work.

The Grand Opening
This thoughtful renovation project now houses NoDa Brewing’s new 60-barrel brewing system, which is a significant upgrade over the 15-barrel system they previously used. This upgrade allowed NoDa to double its production and brew 25,000 barrels per year. The project also included the addition of a brand new tasting room. We toasted the grand opening with NoDa Brewing’s World Beer Cup award-winning IPA, Hop Drop n’ Roll!
